Seeking to capture lost moments and interactions, Lily Hall translates this through small scale narrative driven oil paintings. Often cloaked in shadows, the paintings are nuanced and intimate, encapsulating a sensitivity that is both haunting yet intriguing. Slightly obscured figures make their way into some works, often turned away or utterly unaware. At the same time the paintings have an otherworldly air, illuminated and mysterious. Making for scenes with open-ended narratives that float somewhere between the real world and the invisible. Daring you to look closer and decide for yourself. Undoubtedly inspired by the artist’s love of symbolism and surrealism.
